Jan Snellinck

Jan Snellinck (c. 1548 in Mechelen – 1 October 1638 in Antwerp) was a Flemish artist and art collector.
A notable pupil of Snellinck was Abraham Janssens. According to Houbraken, he was overlooked by Karel van Mander, but he was a notable painter from Mechelen, famous in his day among royalty for his heroic paintings of battle scenes. He painted for churches and heads of state and was 55 in 1604.〔(Johannes Snellinks biography ) in ''De groote schouburgh der Nederlantsche konstschilders en schilderessen'' (1718) by Arnold Houbraken, courtesy of the Digital library for Dutch literature
